Forward Planning & Project Manager
Michael Buehn is a member of Acumen Land Group LLC. He currently works primarily in the area of forward planning and project finance. His responsibilities are cost estimation, production of pro forma, financial modeling, project schedules and cost control. Michael works directly for our Founder and Principal: Mr. Palmer. Michael is a prime focal point for the transference of executive knowledge in this company.
Michael worked on commercial tenant improvement projects as a skilled carpenter during his time at Central Washington University (CWU - Ellensburg), earning income to supplement his baseball and academic scholarships. In 2021, Michael completed his studies at CWU with earning a Bachelors degree in the Actuarial Sciences.
Michael performed construction, marketing and bookkeeping for several start ups. He was the co-developer of a new land improvement contracting business, which he operated for two years, prior to his hiring at Acumen Land Group. Michael has managed the construction of custom homes and several ADU since joining Acumen Land Group LLC in February 2023. The majority of his time at work has been in the formulation of financial plans and cost pro forma for the development of residential and commercial properties. He has become a knowledgeable project advocate and entitlement agent for this company.
Michael Buehn and his wife make their home in Ellensburg, WA. Where he is actively involved in community improvement projects and civil service - he currently serves as "commissioner" on the Planning Commission of the City of Ellensburg. Michael continues to enjoy competitive sports, snow skiiing and hiking. Thru self study programs, he continues to develop his knowledge in the industry.
Director of Development
Alex Palmer is co-founder and Principal Managing Member of Acumen Land Group LLC. He is currently Acumen’s Director of Development, heading up Acumen’s portfolio development and forward planning activities. His responsibilities are conceptual modeling, accurate economic projections, and technical oversight to company acquisitions, financing, and product development. Mr. Palmer is the owner of agricultural and residential property in Kittitas County, WA, where he resides with his wife, today.
Working on the design and construction of small to large scale land projects since 1972, Mr. Palmer has completed development projects in the states of Alaska, California, Michigan, Nevada and Washington; also, in five territories or countries abroad. He is skilled in civil engineering (Texas A&M) and environmental engineering (U. of California at Santa Barbara.) Mr. Palmer is a US Armed Forces Veteran having served in the U.S. Navy Seabees/Civil Engineering Corp.
In 1985, Mr. Palmer built spec homes in the Tahoe/Carson Valley region for three years. He later formed a design company in the greater Los Angeles metro/regional markets. The company provided professional design programs that grew into a group of six companies, offering civil/structural engineering, geotechnical/engineering geology, applied environmental sciences, surveying, land planning and construction management. Over 29 years, the group improved just over 18,400 acres of urban, suburban, and rural property. Often undertaking concept-to-completion contracts in the range of small value to $112 million (total project value.)
Mr. Palmer is an expert developer of residential subdivisions, custom estates with income elements; business parks; retail commercial centers; and heavy industrial parks. Mr. Palmer is a successful entrepreneur and a skilled business executive in the business size range $1MM to $35MM (gross operating budgets.) With his success, Mr. Palmer began in 1998 to build his investor portfolio as a land developer which he continues to concentrate on today through Acumen Land Group LLC.
